Peacemakers Who Sow in Peace, Reap Yoshiaki Fujiwara

Yoshiaki Fujiwara/Oleg Taktarov vs. Antonio Inoki/Dan Severn Inoki Peace Festival 6/1/96 - GREAT

The peace festival was one of those goofus 90s Inoki ideas, but ended up with a pretty cool card that included a short Casas vs. Santo match, Liger vs. Great Sasuke and a  Rey/Ultimo vs. Psicosis/Heavy Metal match that got Rey signed to WCW. This was the main event and was a nifty bit of shootstyle. Taktarov was an early UFC star (he won UFC 6) who ended up an actor (he was in Bad Boys 2!!), Taktarov had two big UFC fights against Severn in the previous year. The Taktarov vs. Severn stuff was fun as they just kind of rolled. Fujiwara was nifty here as you might expect, a lot more brawling including some nasty body shots to both Severn and Inoki. I also loved his sell of an Inoki enziguiri, the timing of the shot was great and Fujiwara does this great stagger sell. Shocked that Inoki let Severn get the win, rather then putting himself over, very out of character.
