Eddie Kingtson In Some Sick Hills, Bagging Up Fishscales

Eddie Kingston vs. Ian Rotten IWA-MS 7/8/05 - EPIC

PAS: This was just a grimy sick fight, an I Quit cage match without any 21st century fanciness, just two guys in close quarters trying to maul each other. The whole thing was filmed with one super close camera angle, and it could pick up the sick smack of every crossface and headbutt. It is pretty hard to do any close magic with the camera right in your face like that, nothing seemed pulled, everything was raising bruises and welts. Kingston and Rotten were cursing at each other and threatening to beat each other to death. Rotten comes in with a cast on his arm, which he uses as a weapon, but Kingston also rips it off so he can beat on the injured arm. Rotten also tries to mangle Eddie's arm with a chair and some armbars. There are some thumbtacks which get pushed into temples and foreheads, and the finish is Ian trying to take Kingston's eye out with a fork. This doesn't have the Jackass style entertainment of some death match stunt shows, this is hard to watch violent stuff, really not a match for everyone, but an achievement nonetheless.

ER: This was a real sick, grisly fight, something that horrified parents would have had to shield their kid's eyes from minutes in as they left in horror. But at no point does it feel like a geek show, this isn't guys rolling around in light tube glass needing attention, this was a fight that started with chairs and strikes, and devolved into strikes and gouging and threats. There isn't a whole lot of "wrestling" (Ian has a couple armbar attempts and a neat kneebar reversal, and he even does a koppo kick to Kingston's arm that had to come as a surprise), there's a lot of knuckles into face and gross headbutts. Ian gets bloody real quick, to no big shock. Ian is one of wrestling's great bleeders, able to get that deep crimson red covering his whole face, that color of red that would cause any normal man to panic and realize their situation is BAD. And Kingston is certifiable because no sane man would let Ian clonk his deep red bloody head into his own head many times. Kingston may be certifiable, but he's also a savage, going after Ian's hand and bending at his fingers, prying at his cast, and Ian does some amazing selling with his pained howls. Ian breaks out that high pitch howl a couple times, and it really is the sound of a man being tortured, totally chilling to see a dude covered in blood screaming like that. These two are just nasty to each other, and Kingston's selling is top level as usual. When he was holding his arm and telling the ref under his breath "It's broken, fuck, it's broken," and begging Ian to just not hit him with a chair for a moment, it's all too real and not much of a stretch to think he could be hurt. This whole thing was grim and violent. Most of my peers and loved ones probably already think I'm a weirdo for watching pro wrestling, but if they found out that this was what I was watching they'd probably think I was keeping somebody in my basement.

this was set up by a Falls Count Anywhere that's also worth seeing even if it has a fuck finish, King and Ian had great chemistry
